Decorating times – Getting Personal

The house is really starting to feel like a home now. The walls are starting to feel like somewhere I want to be and I can enjoy. It’s a lovely progression. Neither my husband or I can believe how much the house has changed in the last couple of months.

The fence surrounding the back garden has been completely rebuilt by my husband and his grandad. So it looks so much better and more private than it was.

Luckily we have had some amazing weather, so I have also been able to make a start painting it. I’ve gone with green as it matches the neighbours fence and looks a lot smarter down the small shared drive.

I ran out of paint at this point…. so that was it for the day.

The best bit of progress is definitely the lounge. Such a total transformation of the space makes it feel so much more like a welcoming space.

The first thing we did was get rid of that horrible dark wallpaper. It made the space feel so much larger once that wall had reverted to a lighter colour.

Inspired by a coffee table I brought off a lovely friend of ours that she upcycled, the lounge has quickly taken shape.

We’ve added matching wallpaper to a feature wall, painted the other walls and put some new carpet in. Having now developed an unhealthy sofa appreciation I was very excited when the sofas arrived on Wednesday! It’s so much more of a welcoming space.

Only a few more things to do in here before it’s done πŸ™‚

Kitchen

The kitchen has been repainted and seems to have taken on a new lease of life. It’s so much more refreshing and welcoming now.

During the week I picked up some command hooks. This has allowed me to hand all the plaques and signs I’ve been collecting! (Apart from the minion one… it’s going on the brick wall).

It’s nearly done. But there is no point changing the floor until the stairway and the landing have been repainted!

The kitchen seems to be the easiest point in the house to sort through the parade of boxes. So it seems to be a constant mess at the moment. Which is driving me insane. But it will be worth it.

I’m trying to sort through everything before it gets out away. I don’t have the room for useless stuff to make it’s way into the house.

(Please excuse the mess – the kitchen is the point to sort out boxes before the stuff finds it’s final place).

This still needs hanging πŸ™‚ but it will go above the fridge!

Craft room

Ok. I admit. No decorating has actually occurred in the craft room.

But we decided to take a few weeks break from decorating at the weekends. So I have some time free to craft…. so I need somewhere to craft… So I’ve set up the space temporarily to get some xmas makes started.

It’s starting to feel like a home at last….
