Dartmoor Yarns

If you live in the UK west of Exeter you’ll know that there is much we don’t have that is taken for granted elsewhere up country – such a proper rail network and yarn festivals.  It was therefore with great excitement that, on the last Saturday in May, I left Mr Hicks in charge of Lovely Husband Lovely Husband in charge of Mr Hicks and headed off  to Proper Woolly at the Holdsworthy livestock market. This was the first year Proper Woolly has been held here. There were about 100 fibre exhibitors plus twenty food exhibitors in the food market. But for once food was of a no real interest to me.

The first thing that caught my eye was Alison Murray’s Knitted Gingerbread house – a community knitting project created in 2006/2007, but it is still being added to.

  1. Hello! Thanks for the reblog – much appreciated. The show is in Holdsworthy in North Devon. So a bit of a trek if you’re not in the West Country. Although it’s a lovely place to come for a holiday too 🙂
